Apuntes sobre el documental chileno contemporáneo

Abstract

En este artículo nos proponemos hacer una revisión histórica del origen del documental chileno contemporáneo y una reflexión crítica acerca de las producciones más actuales, en las que predomina una clara impronta autobiográfica. Estos documentales reivindican la relevancia de esa voz propia, íntima, que construye y resignifica el espacio público y la narrativa histórica predominante. Así, el documental deja de ser visto como un registro transparente u objetivo de la realidad, para convertirse en un acto performativo cuya verdad deviene en el momento de filmar, mostrando el proceso documental y el encuentro con sus sujetos (Bruzzi). En el género documental estamos invitados a acceder al documento o registro a través de la representación o la interpretación, de modo que el archivo deviene mutable y no un punto fijo de referencia.

In this article we propose to make a historic revision of the origins of contemporary Chilean documentary and a critical reflection of recent productions, in which an autobiographical blueprint clearly predominates. These documentaries claim the importance of an intimate voice that builds and resignifies public space and the dominant historical narrative of the recent past. Thereby, the documentary stops being a transparent or objective record of reality and turns into a performative act where truth arises in the moment of filming, showing the process of documenting and the encounter with the subjects (Bruzzi). In the documentary genre we are invited to access the document or the registry through representation or interpretation, thus the archive is changeable and not a fixed reference.
