The paper looks at some of the most important stages of Bolivian cinema, from the silent to the contemporary periods. It aims at looking at cinema as a tool for an understanding of national history, with special attention to the indigenist tendency this national cinema has been known for. The paper analyzes how this tendency can be seen as a refl ection of key moments in the formation of Bolivian national consciousness. |
