Apuntes para el análisis del arte de género en Argentina

Abstract

Historiadoras y artistas feministas han estado siempre a la vanguardia del desafío que implican los estereotipos existentes sobre el arte realizado por mujeres. Éstas han expuesto los mitos sobre la supuesta inferioridad creativa y la presunción de que el arte es competencia exclusiva del hombre. Colocar las “imágenes de la mujer” en el debate de los estudios culturales, las intervenciones feministas y su teoría y análisis de las representaciones han creado ricos e intrincados campos de interpretación. También, el artículo busca reflexionar sobre tendencias y conflictos del arte Argentino de los 90, a la luz de la teoría de género. Feminist artists and historians have always been in the forefront of challenging the pejorative stereotyping of art made by women. They have exposed the myths about women’s supposed creative inferiority and the assumption that art is the exclusive domain of men. Having put ‘images of women’ on the agenda of cultural analysis, feminist interventions in the theory and analysis of representation have created a diverse and intricate field of interpretation. As well, this paper reflects about the trends and conflicts of the 1990s Argentinean’s arts, in the light of the gender theory.
