Abstract

El trabajo se dirige a analizar las definiciones del intelectual moderno entre los ’hombres de ideas’ latinoamericanos en la década de 1920. El objetivo es recorrer el lugar social, las representaciones y funciones en las autodefiniciones de los intelectuales latinoamericanos en relación con la idea de modernidad y crisis y su ubicación ‘entre la ciudad letrada’ y las ‘vanguardias’. The author aims to analyse the definitions of the modern intellectual among “men of ideas” in Latin America in the 1920s. The purpose is to retrace social position, importance and functions in the self-definitions of Latin American intellectuals in relation to the idea of modernity and crisis, and also their place among the “community of letters” and the “avant-garde.”
