Desta investigação participaram 25 sujeitos com idades compreendidas entre os 21 e os 51 anos, que precisem ou já tenham usufruído do apoio desta entidade aquando restituição à liberdade. Para o alcance destes objetivos, foi utilizada a entrevista semiestruturada com perguntas abertas, no sentido de se avaliar a presença de perceções relativas ao suporte social recebido. Os resultados obtidos evidenciam que a amostra apresenta uma preponderância de perceções positivas associadas ao apoio fornecido por esta entidade a nível habitacional, alimentar, económico e de reinserção social, constituindo uma mais-valia para os participantes. São contempladas, ainda, as implicações inerentes a esta investigação e sugeridas propostas para futuras abordagens, tendo em consideração as limitações apontadas. Por último, tecem-se reflexões relativas à eventual adaptação dos resultados para o desenvolvimento de novas estratégias de intervenção que visem a reinserção laboral do indivíduo e previnam a sua reincidência.Considering the pertinence of this issue and the lack of empirical evidence regarding the Portuguese reality in this context, this study aims to identify and understand the perceptions of prisoners and ex-prisoners of the Estabelecimento Prisional de Ponta Delgada on the support provided by the Rede de Suporte Sociocultural à Mobilidade Humana in the post-incarceration period. 25 subjects between the ages of 21 and 51, who needed or already had the support of this entity when returning to freedom, took part in this investigation. To reach these objectives, a semi-structured interview with open-ended questions was used to evaluate the individuals’ perceptions regarding this social support. The results show that the sample demonstrates a preponderance of positive perceptions associated with the support provided by this entity in terms of housing, food, economic support and social reintegration, providing advantages to the participants. The implications of this research are also considered and proposals for future approaches are suggested, taking into account the pointed out limitations.
