No presente trabalho, pretende-se perceber o papel da genética, e descreve-se os sinais clínicos que poderão alertar os médicos dentistas para a presença de um paciente com Síndrome de Sjögren, isto é, expor as manifestações orais associadas, sendo a mais impactante a Xerostomia, a sensação de boca seca. Pretende-se também reconhecer o papel do Médico Dentista no diagnóstico, tratamento e na reabilitação oral destes pacientes, dando-lhes melhor qualidade de vida.Topic approached: This thesis deals with the Sjögren Syndrome, more specifically its impact on the oral cavity. Objective: This work had as objective the accomplishment of a bibliographic review of literature, approaching Sjögren's syndrome, an autoimmune pathology that typically affects salivary glandular tissue. In the present work, it is intended to understand the role of genetics, to describe the clinical signs that may alert dentists to the presence of a patient with Sjögren's syndrome and to expose the associated oral manifestations, being the most impacting one Xerostomia, the feel of dry mouth.
