A pesquisa examina a relação entre criptomoedas, terrorismo e branqueamento de capitais, enfatizando como é que as moedas digitais podem facilitar crimes financeiros. Dada a crescente adoção de criptomoedas e a evolução das organizações criminosas, o tema é relevante, pois a natureza anónima das criptomoedas pode ocultar transações ilícitas. Assim, o trabalho pretende analisar os riscos e implicações para a segurança financeira, além de propor medidas preventivas para mitigar o impacto dessas práticas. O estudo pretende que os criptoativos sejam utilizados de maneira segura, responsável e regulada. A metodologia adotada será qualitativa, com um foco na análise e revisão de literatura e entrevistas semiestruturadas. A organização da investigação pretende proporcionar um estudo completo e rigoroso sobre a temática.This graduation project, developed in the context of concluding the bachelor’s degree in criminology at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University Fernando Pessoa, is entitled "The Role of Cryptocurrencies in Terrorism Financing and Money Laundering Methods." The research examines the interrelationship between cryptocurrencies, terrorism, and money laundering, emphasizing how these digital currencies can facilitate financial crimes. Given the increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies and the evolution of criminal organizations, the topic is highly relevant, as the anonymous nature of cryptocurrencies can conceal illicit transactions. Thus, the work aims to analyze the risks and implications for financial security, as well as propose preventive measures to mitigate the impact of these practices. The study seeks to ensure that crypto assets are responsibly, regularly, and securely used. The methodology adopted will be qualitative, focusing on literature analysis and review, as well as semi-structured interviews.
